Sunday School is offered from 10:15am to 11:00am on Sunday mornings starting September 17 - June 2018. This time frame gives families the ability to either go to the Choral Eucharist at 9:00am or the informal Eucharist at 11:00am that offers a "Time with Children."

Pre-School - Grade 6

Our curriculum for pre-school through grade 6 is Weaving God's Promises. This is a three-year Episcopal based curriculum that offers teachers a wide-range of creative lessons from the Gospel, Old Testament and New Testament while giving a historical base of the church's heritage but also including the values of welcome, compassion, mercy, forgiveness and justice.

Sunday School teachers and parents can find information and lessons on the curriculum

Grade 7+

Our classes for grades 7 and up are based on the J2A curriculum which offers spiritual formation through Bible lessons, prayer, games and activities, outreach and fun. This curriculum through our teachers will guide our youth on a journey to becoming more mindful of their church, each other and the community.

More information on this curriculum can be found

Currently, our Sunday school program runs from pre-school through high school and follows the academic year schedule. Although pre-registration occurs in September, children and youth are welcome to register and begin anytime during the school year. Please contact the parish office( or 401-596-0197) or Natalie Pukas, Interim Chair, Christian Education Commission (

Vacation Bible School

Every Summer, Christ Church offers a week long camp for children and youth ages 3 and up. Vacation Bible School is open to the Westerly Community and runs during the first week in August. Ages 12 and up are considered volunteers and help run the program.

This is a free program with a different, fun theme every year offered by Group Publishing, Inc. The program includes games, crafts, snacks, music, drama, and video, each of which includes a lesson that coordinates with an overall daily Bible lesson.

Every year, it proves to be a week full of fun and memories!

Service Opportunities

In addition to classes, several events are planned by the Children & Youth Ministries Commission, teachers, parents, and youth. In the past, we have had sleepovers (for grades 6 and up), movie nights, a Rake'n'Bake, Christmas Pageant, a Lenten Dinner and Talent Show, and numerous field trips.

Learning about service to others happens both in and out of the classroom. Various projects we have participated in are: Operation Christmas Child, Heifer International, delivering palms to area nursing homes, helping with our Living Supplies Closet, and helping with the Thanksgiving Community Dinner.

We are always looking for new ideas or help with planning an activity or event. If you have an interest in helping, please contact Rebecca Cherenzia at .

Our youngest members may feel more comfortable in the nursery during worship services. Childcare is provided for the ages of infancy through age 5, from 8:00am to 11:00am on Sunday mornings during the Sunday School year and shorter hours during the summer, although children are welcome in church.

The Nursery is located on the first floor of the Parish house, to the right of the parking lot entrance. Parents and caregivers are asked to remain in the building while their child/children are in the nursery.
