Worship is central to our life as a Christian community here at Christ Church and we provide several opportunities and differing
styles of services to appeal to a wide range of people.
On Saturday afternoon at 5:00 we celebrate Holy Eucharist Rite I. Rite I is a service that uses a literary style of Tudor era English that was common
in the Episcopal Church for decades. There is no music at this service.
On Sunday morning at 7:45 we once again celebrate a traditional Rite I Eucharist without music.
Our 9:00 service is a choral celebration of Holy Eucharist Rite II. Christ Church has one of the finest
choirs
in New England, under the direction of Mr. George Kent. The choir leads the congregation in singing traditional hymns and mass settings and provides a lovely offertory anthem each week. Our 11:00 a.m.
service is a celebration of Holy Eucharist Rite II which uses modern English vernacular and more contemporary church music. This service is purposely meant to be "child friendly" and involves them in the
worship. It features both an adult and a children's sermon. The children are invited to come and stand with the celebrant at the altar during the Eucharistic Prayer. This service is also geared to seekers
who are looking for a church family in a less formal setting.
We hold a Healing Service on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in St. Nicholas Chapel. During the Eucharist there is a
laying on of hands for physical, spiritual and emotional healing. All are welcome.
In addition to our regular schedule of services, we celebrate Holy Eucharist on all of the Principal Feast Days
of the Church and hold special services throughout the year including services of Lessons and Carols for Advent and Christmas and a full service schedule during Holy Week. These extra services will be found
on the
Liturgical Calendar page.
