HOMECOMING SUNDAY is today at 9:30 and you are all welcome!
HOMECOMING SUNDAY is today at 9:30 and you are all welcome!
Dear Friends in Christ, Welcome back home after a wonderful and restful summer! Recently, I have been thinking about “why” Christ Church is important in our busy lives. I have come to realize that our church is not just a beautiful building, or a place where great liturgy happens, or even a place where parishioners find love and acceptance in God’s community. It is all of the above and much much more. In truth, Christ Church is a sacred place of grace, gratitude and generosity. “Grace, Gratitude and Generosity” is the theme of our Fall Stewardship program. Our Stewardship Committee, chaired by Connie Annand, has been diligently working to produce a program that is insightful and inspiring! Our hope is that we will be reminded of the importance of our Church for God’s work in the world. Please mark your calendars for the following events: 10/1 The sermon will focus on the “care of our church community.” 10/8 Our Wardens, Fred Allardyce and Betsey Rice will engage in an interactive highly informative sermon, reminding us “what it costs to run our church”. 10/15 The sermon will focus on our many services and pastoral ministries serving the community. Stewardship Speaker- Michael Evering 10/22 The sermon will focus on grace in our parish. Stewardship Speaker- John Gentile. After the 9:00AM service, a group of parishioners will participate in a fun, letter-writing activity in the parish hall when pledge cards will be mailed. The Newcomer and Stewardship committees will hold a reception for newcomers from 6:30-8:00PM. 10/29 Join us for a festive celebration on Commitment Sunday. Please bring your pledge cards to church and you will have an opportunity to place your pledge at the altar. The very special preacher of the day will be Connie Annand. Christ Church is important. I see it in the ways our church impacts our lives and the lives of the people who live in our community. As you prayerfully consider how God has blessed you, think about how you can contribute back to your church even in the smallest way, through your time, talent and treasure!
