FROM FR. NESTROCK

Greetings to everyone:

At the Vestry meeting of April 15, 2008, I formally announced my intention to retire from the full time ministry effective June 30, 2008 This notice was posted by me today in a letter to the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago* and a copy of this letter was also sent to the Bishop of Rhode Island and to the Church Pension Fund. As of this time, I am negotiating an agreement with Canon Philip Tierney, Rector of St. Pauls Parish in Wickford, RI, having to do with the position as part time priest associate of the parish. I hope to begin this ministry sometime in August after an extended (and long needed) vacation.

Kathy, Sarah and I will be moving to the former rectory of that parish which will be undergoing major revision and restoration for the next month or so. Nothing can be said which would in any way express our gratitude and joy at having been with this parish for the last two years. We have been welcomed in so many ways and the relationships which have begun here will sustain us for a long time to come.

On Sunday, June 8th, the parish will come together for Solemn Evensong in thanksgiving for the fullness of the ministry that we have had in the parish and in the community.
An invitation is extended to all the clergy in the Westerly/ Pawcatuck Clergy Association as well as to any and everyone in anyway related to this parish family.

On my last Sunday with my Christ Church family, June 29th, there will be one service at 9:00 am.

I will celebrate a Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving and the Right Reverend David B. Joslin will preach. Fr. Barrett will celebrate, preach and officiate at the 5 pm service on Saturday the 28th of June. I will be in attendance at only one service that weekend which is at the 9:00 am service on Sunday. After the service on Sunday morning there will be a reception and picnic for everyone under the "lemonade tree" (which some of us still believe is on the lawn - if only in spirit!). Faithfully yours and with all affection from the three of us I remain,

*my canonical residence as a priest is in the diocese of Chicago where I was ordained to the priesthood.
